Scientific Director
Natasha Hussain is the Scientific Director of the Kavli NDI at Johns Hopkins University, where she designs and directs the initiatives, and manages the operations that support the Institute’s mission: to advance neuroscience discovery by fostering transdisciplinary research among neuroscientists, engineers and data scientists.
Natasha received a B.Sc. from McGill University, Montreal, QC, Canada where she completed a double major in biology and environmental science. Natasha continued in her doctoral training at McGill’s Montreal Neurological Institute where she earned a Ph.D. in Neurology and Neurosurgery. She conducted her postdoctoral training at MIT in the Picower Institute for Learning and Memory, Cambridge, MA, USA. The principal focus of her research involved elucidating the cell biology and physiology of protein kinases that are genetically linked to learning, memory, psychiatric disorders, and to determine their roles in the development, function and plasticity of synapses.
