Manager of Meetings and Events
Elaine Bui is manager of meetings and events at The Kavli Foundation. She works closely with program teams in Science, Public Engagement with Science and Prizes to coordinate, manage and execute foundation-hosted convenings. Meetings include the Biennial Kavli Institute Assembly, which hosts directors and members from the 20 Kavli Institutes internationally; The Kavli Prize Laureate celebrations at their home universities; science workshops; biennial strategy meetings with the foundation’s board of directors and the annual foundation all-staff meeting.
Elaine also supports facility operations, specifically with the expansion of the foundation’s headquarters to include a meetings and events center. In this role she partners with leadership across the organization in developing and managing the conference center’s pre-opening and opening project plan and timeline.
Prior to joining The Kavli Foundation, Elaine was manager of Special Events for The Irvine Company, a privately owned real estate company specializing in hospitality, retail and office collection along the coast of California. There she planned events from property grand openings and office facilities to social events and company galas. Elaine is a California native with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from California State University, Fullerton with an emphasis in business management. Her niche includes complex logistics strategy and execution, project management, integrated event marketing and visual design. Outside of planning meetings and events, Elaine has dedicated 15 years to her passion in Polynesian dancing. She is currently dancing for Tupua Productions, a premier Polynesian entertainment dance troupe in Orange County. In 2018, Elaine and her dance troupe traveled to Tahiti to represent the USA in the ‘Ori Tahiti World Cup Dance Competition and took home second place among many other countries that entered.
