Kay Gastinger has a background as PhD in Physics (Optics) from the University of Oldenburg/ Germany. Kay has 14 years research experience as research scientist in SINTEF in Trondheim/Norway. In 2017 he completed IESE Business School´s “Program for Leadership Development” in Barcelona/Spain. Kay has been leading NTNU NANO (strategic initiative for nanotechnology, nanoscience and functional materials) for 8 years. In this position he has been coordinating cross-faculty nanotechnology research at NTNU and was responsible for NTNU NanoLab, a 700m2 cleanroom laboratory. Kay has been the director of NorFab, the Norwegian infrastructure for micro- and nanofabrication, the Vice-chair of the EuroNanoLab consortium, and an initiator of the Nordic NanoLab Network. Since 2018 Kay is the Managing Director at Kavli Institute for Systems Neuroscience. He is responsible for the administration of the Kavli Institute, it´s 4 Centres and the national infrastructure for brain research – NORBRAIN.
