Deputy Director
Professor Hiroaki Aihara is Executive Director and Vice President of the University of Tokyo. He also holds a title of professor of physics at school of science and serves as a deputy director of Kavli IPMU. Immediately after he obtained PhD in experimental particle physics from the UTokyo he joined UTokyo as an assistant professor in 1984 and became full professor in 2003. He had also been a staff scientist from 1988 to 1995 at Lawrence Berkeley 1995. National Laboratory in U.S.A. He served as Dean of School of Science 2012 to 2014 and Executive Vice President 2014 to 2015. He had been a council member of Science Council of Japan 2011 to 2017.
